City Auditor Laura Doud received a 2008 Knighton
Award from the Association of Local Government
Auditors (ALGA) for the Long Beach Museum of Art
Capital Campaign Audit. This prestigious national
award from ALGA, which represents 400 local
government audit organizations, was presented to
City Auditor Doud Tuesday at the Association’s
annual conference in San Francisco.
“I am very pleased to accept this award on behalf of
my office. This audit was about ensuring that the
Museum establish a plan to repay the debt owed to
the City so that Long Beach taxpayers will not have
to pay the bill,” said City Auditor Doud.
Knighton Award winners are selected by a team of
judges from peer organizations. Audits are evaluated
using selected criteria including the potential for
significant impact, focus and recommendations on
effective and efficient government, and clarity of
communication style.
Expressing her appreciation to the award committee,
City Auditor Doud said, “We are grateful for ALGA’s
recognition of our work and their validation that
Long Beach has a City Auditor’s Office that is among
the best in local government.
This is the second ALGA Award that City Auditor Doud
has received. Last year, ALGA recognized the Long
Beach City Auditor’s Office for its outstanding
